Ivantiques is privileged to show a large personal collection that we have accumulated over the years by the artist Zelig Segal. On the following pages you will see many items that we have on display on our website. These items are not at present for sale. Zelig Segal was born in Jerusalem in 1933 and raised in a religious home and educated in Yeshiva. He studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art in 1949, and was awarded a scholarship through David Ben-Gurion. In 1964 he became the head of the gold and silver smith department of the Bezalel Academy
of Art and Design.
Competitions and Awards
1954 Awarded bronze medal at Triennale Milan.
1955 Awarded first prize in the design of Hebrew University logo.
1964 Awarded first prize for the design of the poster for 26th Zionist Congress logo.
1966 Awarded the first prize for design of commemorative coin in honor of the 18th anniversary of the State of Israel.
1968 Awarded first prize for the design of the ” Peace coin” of the Bank of Israel.
1969 Awarded first prize for design in jewelry for Israel’s Institute of Technology.
1987 Awarded Jesselson Prize for Contemporary Judaica Design, The Israel Museum Jerusalem.
Segal participated in major group exhibitions: The Tel-Aviv Museum in 1975, The Bertha Urdang Gallery New York in 1981, and the Israel Museum Jerusalem in 1881, 1982.
Many of his works are part of permanent exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The University Museum New York and The Israel Museum of Jerusalem Israel.
